Press Release

December 5th, 2025 — Avika Sky, an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) systems integration consortium focused on enabling safe and scalable deployment of next-generation aviation infrastructure, today announced the appointment of Robert Bassey as Chairman of the Board.

Bassey brings deep regulatory, technical, and operational expertise to Avika Sky following his tenure as a senior leader in the Federal Aviation Administration’s Office of Airports, where he served as a principal technical contributor to the development of the United States’ first national vertiport design standards. His work helped shape key elements of FAA Engineering Brief 105A and subsequent technical guidance governing vertiport geometry, safety areas, downwash criteria, ARFF integration, and aviation-infrastructure interoperability for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

Robert’s regulatory leadership and technical experience provide exactly the governance capability Avika Sky needs as we scale nationally,” said Hirsh Singh, Founder & Executive Chair of Avika Sky. “His appointment reinforces our commitment to disciplined, standards-based systems integration across the AAM ecosystem.

In his role as Chairman, Bassey will provide governance leadership and strategic direction as Avika Sky expands its national mission as a neutral integrator across the AAM ecosystem, coordinating collaboration among government agencies, airports, aircraft manufacturers, engineering firms, infrastructure providers, and technology partners.

“Successful Advanced Air Mobility deployment depends on disciplined systems integration across regulation, infrastructure, operations and community engagement,” said Bassey. “Avika Sky’s focus on building coordinated, standards aligned solutions is essential to ensuring AAM moves from vision to safe, scalable reality. I look forward to supporting the consortium as we work with partners nationwide”

Avika Sky is structured as a multi-stakeholder consortium operating as a systems integrator, supporting state and municipal sponsors, airports, and industry partners in program planning, regulatory alignment, infrastructure validation, and early deployment frameworks for vertiport networks and AAM operations.
